Race Report
Summary: Super Touring Power 2 Festival – Brands Hatch GP (29 June 2024)
The 2024 CALM All Porsche Trophy made a spectacular showing at the Super Touring Power 2 festival at Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, sharing the grid with Bernie’s V8s and Historic Outlaws. 46 cars lined up for the two races on Saturday, including 23 Porsches. With 22,000 spectators pre-booked, the event was buzzing — and so was the action on track.
Qualifying was a tight affair, with Warren Allen putting in a storming lap to go third fastest overall and quickest Porsche before mechanical gremlins struck in Race 1. Christian Walker stepped up to lead the CAP field, eventually taking the overall Porsche win after a close contest with James Gunn Carter’s Boxster. The midfield battles were intense, especially in SP3 and SP2, but the real spectacle came further back.
Much of the excitement unfolded in the rear half of the field where a multi-car Porsche scrap lit up both races. Gary Martin, Dom McGhee, Paul Hicks, Kenn van Hauen, Hugh Peart, Steve Potts and Jamie Nailard put on a stunning show. In Race 2, the group swapped positions relentlessly, with Hicks eventually coming out on top, followed closely by van Hauen, Peart and Potts. McGhee narrowly led them home, and Peart clinched the SP4 class win — just edging out Potts after a hard-fought contest.
For van Hauen, the weekend was extra special. The Brands Hatch round doubled as a birthday celebration, with friends and family flying in from Denmark, Germany and across the UK. Beautiful weather, racing drama, and a festive party at the Mercure trackside hotel made for unforgettable memories.
