The Motec Maestro
Dave Rowe is the technical mind behind Electronic Performance Systems (EPS), a name synonymous with motorsport electronics and engine management innovation. Originally from Australia, Dave built his reputation as a senior technician at Motec, where his standout understanding of complex systems set him apart in the high-stakes world of motorsport technology.
His journey to the UK was initially sparked by his work with Motec, but what began as a professional relocation quickly evolved into something much greater: a long-term mission that would see him become the country’s foremost authority on Motec installations and tuning. Today, EPS Motorsport is a reflection of Dave’s deep technical knowledge and inventive approach to problem-solving—often venturing far beyond off-the-shelf solutions.
Though Dave’s personal passion lies with Audi—evidenced by his stunning Audi Quattro Group S RS001 recreation that conquered the legendary Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 2025—his work has also left a lasting mark on the Porsche world. His collaboration with Theon Design has resulted in some of the most admired 911 builds of the modern era, blending classic styling with contemporary performance in ways few others can replicate.
In the UK’s fiercely competitive Porsche racing scene, Dave’s name carries weight. His bespoke Motec and Bosch-based systems have elevated numerous builds from competent to truly competitive. The 903 race car is a case in point: without Dave’s electronic wizardry, its 3.2L supercharged Carrera engine would never have achieved the reliability and outright performance needed to challenge cars 40 years its junior.
What sets Dave apart isn’t just technical skill—it’s his mindset. Where others might default to replacing parts, Dave focuses on integration, refinement, and forward-thinking enhancements. His ability to bridge the gap between old-world engineering and modern performance electronics breathes new life into classic platforms.
The VANHAUEN RACING team considers itself extremely fortunate to benefit from Dave’s rare blend of theoretical insight and hands-on execution. His work with Motec and Bosch systems was pivotal in transforming the 903 from a project with potential into a serious contender. Thanks to his expertise, the car is not only reliable—but genuinely competitive in modern motorsport.
