Summary: CALM All Porsche Trophy - Round 1, Donington Park National (1st April 2024)
The 903 opened its second UK season at Donington Park. Preparation had come a day earlier in the form of the car's maiden outing of 2024, at the Motorsport Vision test day on the National circuit on 31st March, where it lapped in 1min28.91secs in the dry on Yokohama Advan A052 tyres. That was the green light for the race weekend.
Race day was a different proposition. As the official series report put it, "32 cars took to a wet and slippery Donington National circuit for Qualifying", and the 40-minute race that followed was punctuated by safety cars, one of them triggered by a 924 beached in the mud at the bottom of Craner Curves and the recovery vehicle that went in after it getting stuck too.
The 903 came through all of it. A best lap of 1min35.526secs in the wet brought the car home 18th overall from a 32-car grid, and with it the Invitation Class win. It was the best result of Kenn van Hauen's racing career in the 903 to that point.
The next round takes the 903 to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in June.
