Race Report
Summary: CALM All Porsche Trophy – Round 4, Anglesey Coastal Circuit (5 & 6 July 2025)
The CALM All Porsche Trophy travelled to the dramatic Welsh coastline for Round 4 of the 2025 season, racing on the Anglesey Coastal layout for the first time. With a smaller grid than usual — 19 cars taking part — the event coincided with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the long journey west discouraged some regulars from making the trip. But for those who did, the rewards came in the form of stunning views, technical challenges, and a weekend of dry racing despite forecasts predicting otherwise.
For Kenn van Hauen and the Porsche 903, it was a weekend of rapid adaptation. Having prepared on the International layout in the simulator, the late switch to the Coastal circuit caught many off guard. The shortened layout removed two of the straights where the supercharged 903 typically shines, replacing them with the tight, technical Corkscrew section — unfamiliar territory that demanded quick learning and precise control. A 5-second lap time improvement between qualifying and Race 3 reflected that learning curve in action, along with growing confidence in the car and track.
The weekend wasn't without its drama. Scrutineering raised an unexpected hurdle when officials flagged the 903's rear spoiler for being 30mm too high — despite it having passed inspection unchanged at previous events. With no competitive impact (903 runs alone in the Invitation class) and the rule not being safety-related, a case was made to allow it as-is. However, the officials were firm, and thanks to quick work from Phil at Brough Motorsport, a solution was engineered just in time to make the first race.
Sunday's final race saw 903 hit a weekend-best top speed of 190.5 km/h — a strong sign of pace, even with the circuit's tighter configuration. Combined with the fortunate avoidance of rain and consistent progress throughout the event, the Anglesey weekend proved a valuable exercise in adaptation, resilience, and learning under pressure.
